Manchester City’s title bid took a dent last night as Nottingham Forest fought back to grab a surprise draw. City, who had won four League titles in a row, are potentially staring at the prospect of being trophyless for a second successive season.
Pep’s Man City side are currently in the FA Cup, the final of the League Cup and the round of 16 of the Champions League, so all is not lost, but with the deposed champions of England, they’re not as infallible as they once were.
To try and address this, Pep Guardiola has changed the formation, in an effort to boost/bulk up the centre of midfield with workmanlike players. That had worked up until yesterday, when Forest ended City’s winning streak.
On the face of it, it appears that Man City have given themselves too big a bridge to climb. Even if The Blues win their game in hand, then the gap between the top two is four points, not big, but not small either.
The beauty of the English Premier League is that there are plenty of twists and turns to come, but in my humble opinion, that seems to be destined for the relegation battle rather than the top of the League.
This years relegation battles sees Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and West Ham going against each other.
These three giants are avoiding the last relegation space. Sadly for Burnley, they seem to be too far adrift in 19th, and the games are few and far between now.
Can Arsenal be caught? You know my opinion, but what’s yours?
