Former Ajax and on-loan Everton midfielder Donny Van de Beek has agreed on a deal to join former Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season.

If this deal goes well with the Bundesliga club, then the move could be made permanent. Not even as a Man United fan, I say this, but rather as a fan of someone being given a chance, I hope this move works out.

The former Ajax academy player was signed by former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for £35 million in 2020.

At the time it was seen as a real coup as Real Madrid were reportedly in for the midfielder too. Sadly for both club and player, this move didn’t work.

A loan move to Premier League rivals Everton was designed to help him get back his form and fitness, but even at Goodison Park, his luck didn’t change.

Moving to a new country, and a new lifestyle just might be the key to helping get what was once a promising career back on track.

With this summer being the European Championships, it’s a good move for Donny van de Beek to go out and look to seek playing time.
