In what has been a doomed World Cup defence, is now officially over after The Three Lions after they lost by 33 runs to five-time winners Australia.

They have been in the games, in period but largely due to batting collapses, the 2019 World Cup winners are out.
Cricket fans, I don’t think we will see such a doomed title defence again. What makes England’s failed title defence disappointing, is that the next World Cup, England will have nearly a full new team.
Moeen Ali, Jos Buttler, Adil Rashid, Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes are just some of the names that will almost certainly not play in another World Cup.
From 2015 to 2019, this England team was thrilled with their brand of attacking exciting cricket. From 2019-2023 however, this same England team have been under-prepared.
Yes, The Hundred is in part to blame for it, but it’s not the only factor. The lack of continuity in the batting order has also been another factor.
Above all else, it’s painful to say, that it seems simply this England team is at the end of its cycle. A new cycle is needed to start now.
Players like Ollie Pope and Sam Curran will be the men to lead this new revolution, but the rebuilding starts now.
