Any Fofana will do

The barrage of abuse he’s had has been nothing short of disgusting. The death threats of his family and possibly friends have meant it’s no wonder why the usual calmness personified Graham Potter has admitted his managerial reign at Chelsea has seen his mental health suffer.

For all the madness that Chelsea had in the past, the football decision-makers were crucial for The Blues. Petr Cech and Marina Granovskaia, now looking back were even more important for the West London side.

Since Todd Boehly took ownership of the club, everything has been haphazard, to put it mildly. The departures of Cech and Granovskaia in the grand scheme of things couldn’t have come at a worse time for Chelsea. As well as the sacking of the popular Thomas Tuchel.

The appointment of former director of football for Red Bull Salzburg Christian Vivel has been appointed and is a respected figure, but he will need time to settle into his role as does Potter.

On the pitch, Wesley Fofana scored the winning goal for Chelsea against relegation-threatened Leeds United, an improvement on the 1-0 loss to Leeds’ fellow strugglers Southampton.

This result will give boss Graham Potter some respite. Although it wasn’t David Fofana, the man signed from Molde to score goals for The Blues, I am sure Chelsea and their fan base won’t be concerned too much about who scores, as long as they score one more than the opposition.

It’s a start for Potter’s Chelsea side, but let’s not forget this is a side that has a lengthy injury list, as well as a lot of players that the manager himself arguably didn’t want in the first place.

Mikahylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke Madueke come to mind. The man needs time and full trust, which is something I am not convinced he will get. Have you not seen the way the popular Thomas Tuchel was sacked?
