Sunday, for some, is the day they’re off work; for others, it’s a day where you are not asked to go to work. But for the football faithful, Sunday is for football, Super Sunday!

This Sunday, however, appeared to onlookers such as myself to be the day that the Manchester City dynasty had toppled! For four years, City have won the League title, and they have been the top dogs of England five times in the last six and seven times in the last eight.

Over the weekend, however, the wounded champions were swatted aside 5-1, with a mere Erling Haaland consolation goal to show for their efforts. Even the great Manchester United teams would get their beatings against the great Newcastle side of that era, but I got a different vibe here.

In boxing, Man City was glad the bell rang and was thinking whether it was their last fight. Pep and the powers that be have been busy in the transfer market and have signed £130 million worth of talent.

For this season, this is enough to enable The Cityzens to get into the Champions League; for next season, who knows? But one thing is certain: Manchester City, as we know, won’t be the same.

How can they be? This season has been a very humbling experience. Pep, being the champion manager he has been, will get City to rise again. Why else do the Abu Dhabi group pay him the big bucks?
