The time when I couldn’t get my dad out in cricket

Hello, good evening sports fans. I hope you’re well, looking after yourselves and are in good health. Sports fans, we need to talk about an issue important to me, in the world of sports, cricket.

To be more precise, I am referring to garden cricket. As you know by now, my name is Ayyaz Malik, aka The Sports Buff. I am what I call The Chief `Sports Writer of the site.

Here at the-sports-buff.com, I have me and my brother-in-law as summarisers, with me as someone who knits the words together. So for the words I want to say in this article, relate to my favourite topic, garden cricket.

The number of times, the grass would get ruined for all the times we would run on the playing surface shall I say, I have lost count. Here, in this article, I want to tell a tale about my dad.

Yes, Poppa bear is my hero, you know that or at least that I will say that. I want to tell my story about how me and my brother I, almost like Nauman Ali and Abrar Ahmed in the 2nd innings against England in the current test match, toiled away to little or no avail.

Me and my twin, would come running in, bowl and get hit to all sides of the garden boundaries. In what I can describe now looking back as 5m boundaries, at the time to little old me, looked like 105m boundaries.

Fours, and sixes, dad was slaying us to all parts of the back garden stadium. A word was needed with the groundsman for preparing a poor pitch, it was a flat-decker and a road!

Well as me, and my brother did the gardening, we were the groundsman you can say, so we were our own worst enemies. My dad I can say was essentially batting not like Don Bradman, but Don Dadman.

We couldn’t get this batsman out, no matter how hard we tried. The only time, dad would lose his wicket was when he retired or we gave up. To add further salt to the wounds, when I or my brother would bat, we would be back in the pavilion in no time.

Oh, how they were happy memories! Amusingly now, he’s still just as hard to get out now, all these years later!
