Man United won’t get relegated it’s going to be Liverpool who will. Two points from three games and the moral damaging 2-1 defeat to arch-rivals United, means Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have yet to win this term.
Naturally, as it’s time to overreact, Man United will be Champions League winners and here comes 1999, some 23/24 years later. Did I go too far?, yeah I tend to do that.
Last night’s 2-1 win for The Red Devils would have piled even more pressure on United and would have seen fickle fans call for ETH to go, which is embarrassing.
Ten Haag has a team that isn’t his squad as he’s been backed poorly in the window, but the team the former Ajax boss fielded, was superb. With Marcus Rashford down the middle, Man United looked very dynamic and were able to rattle Liverpool who seemed like they were out on the pitch in body, but still in the changing room in spirit.
For the brilliance of the home side, and the lack of Harry Maguire, visitors Liverpool were poor. Ponderous in attack, lacking fight in midfield and timid in defence. This is Liverpool we are talking about, a side in German Klopp’s tenure, being the polar opposite of all of that.
Bad day at the office, Manchester United wanted it more, which can be reasons why Liverpool were second best in all aspects, but credit to Erik’s men, they were tenacious, and with Rashford up front who started ahead of CR7, were very aggressive and if not for Alison’s good saves, would have won by a bigger margin.
Just as much as Manchester United not winning would have been a disaster, Liverpool not getting something out of last night’s game is a slightly concerning sign.
Mohammed Salah, might have scored at Old Trafford, but again I am going to say it, he should have been the one sold not Mane. Sadio Mane was a very versatile, hardworking forward. Although a great player, the Egyptian, I am sorry to say isn’t that.
A great goal scorer, yes, but an egotistical player who shoots blindly, and ignores teammates in the process. Liverpool, are too good to go down, after all, they have more points than West Ham and are crippled with a big injury list.
When all of the players are available to Jurgen, I can say this with certainty, Liverpool have the best squad in the league, bar none. The 19-time Premier League champions Liverpool are slightly light in the middle of the park, but I have no doubt, they will come good.
Nothing is won or success achieved at this early part of the season. But winning is always handy, especially for Man United who won their first game of the season.
As for Liverpool, the longer they don’t win, even Jurgen Klopp might have to bat off some awkward questions. Everton, are actually higher than Liverpool in the table, ouch!
The times have changed for Manchester United. The games between them and Liverpool are like cup finals (you might think aren’t they always?), but the difference is The Red Devils were massive underdogs. Never could that have been said about Sir Alex’s side.
Let’s enjoy it United fans, especially as they beat us 5-0 last year, Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool! This result will mean very little, if they don’t follow this result up, with another positive result at St Mary’s vs Southampton.
