Bojan Kirkic, Ravel Morrison, Munir El Hadadi, Riqui Puig and Jeremy Lynch (yes I am being cheeky with the last one hehe), but on a serious note, here is an example or examples of talented players who for whatever reason have gone somewhat into the football wilderness.

Former Manchester United midfielder, who was seen as one of the best players ever to come from the famed Man United academy, simply just didn’t appear to have the right attitude, for being an elite player for The Red Devils.

Whereas Morrison and now Puig seem to have the attitude issue in common, the other players on our list were just arguably victims of bad fate, Bojan can testify to that.

Not only related by blood, Kirkic and Messi seemed like they were of the same football family. Yes, they were both La Masia graduates, but the elegance, the low sense of gravity the undeniable hunger for goals too, they were like twins!

Injuries and the long line of attackers, meant the former AC Milan and Stoke City player was only going to get limited game time. But such can’t be said of Puig, who arguably had the world at his feet and seemed destined to be the air to the Iniesta throne.

But, temperament got in the way, or to be more precise the audio recordings of him criticising Ferran Torres for his lack of starts under former Barca manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, which meant Puig’s days at Camp Nou were surely numbered.

It maybe early doors to be so dismissive of Rigui Puig like that and Barca would sell the doors of their changing rooms if someone offered enough, such is their need for cash, but come on what Rigui is done is utter stupidity!

Ronald Koeman froze him out, surely that was the wake up call when Xaxi came through the door as manager. The former club captain came through the academy would give the youngsters a chance, if they earned it.

It can’t be emphasised, just how badly Riqui has messed up here, but maybe this could put the now former Barca man in the shop window if he performs well Stateside , it did help Zlatan rejoin AC Milan after all.

Here at the-sports-buff.com we are a massive fan of the La Masia graduate. talented, yes hadworking? Hmmm. If the 22-year old can be the player he threatens to be, then like they have so often this decade, Barcelona could be left red-faced.

It won’t be the first time will it?
