This World Cup promised some managerial changes at the end, but the fact that there have been seven sackings/resignations is quite extraordinary. After last night’s 1-0 win for Spain, Portugal manager Roberto Martinez has announced he’s resigning, so this list continues to rise.

Ronald Koeman, Sabri Lamouchi, Renee Havard, Hong Myung-bo, Steve Clarke, Mirsoslav Koubek and Sebastien Beccacece are the other managers who are now unemployed.

Didier Deschamps is set to leave, with Zidane widely expected to be the new France boss, and Julien Nagelsmann set to lose his job as Germany boss. What was a long list is growing at a relentless pace.

USA 2026 has been a unique tournament due to the fact that there are more teams participating in it. Post World Cup, the football is going to see a lot of moving and shaking.

The Premier League has seen it, and the rest of the football world will align too no doubt.
