Omitted Scotland striker, Ollie McBurnie, grabbed a late goal to help Hull City get promoted to the Premier League by beating Middlesbrough via the play-offs. Going into the game, the media’s attention was on Southampton and the news that they were being punished for spying.

Their manager, Tonda Eckert, was found to be the man responsible for ordering the alleged spying. Hull themselves also came out in the aftermath of what’s now been known as spygate and said that they were planning legal action if they didn’t win today.

That conversation is now irrelevant after McBurnie’s goal. What a dramatic 12-months it’s been for The Tigers. This time last year, it was goal difference that kept them in the Championship. Fast forward 12 months, and the Yorkshire side are celebrating.

Camisarations to Boro, but in many ways, justice has been done. The Teesiders will be looking to come out of this experience in better stead for the long haul.
