The vital stage of the EFL Championship season is nearly upon us as this week’s results have displayed who will battle for promotion and play-offs, while the relegated teams have been confirmed.

It was a double whammy of fixtures which began with action on Tuesday night, starting off at the bet365 stadium where Stoke City went head-to-head with automatic promotion contenders Millwall.

The Lions made their away trip worth it with a 3-1 victory against The Potters in what was a crucial win for Alex Neil’s side.

Coventry City confirmed themselves as champions of the second tier of English football after demolishing Portsmouth 5-1.

Southampton could only settle for a point in their match against Bristol City, drawing 2-2 as Ryan Manning’s early own goal may have proved to be costly.

Despite being denied a clean sheet late on, Swansea City secured a 2-1 triumph away to Queens Park Rangers.

West Brom secured survival in the Championship after a comfortable 3-0 win over Watford as The Baggies avoided a worrying situation.

Leicester City confirmed their relegation to League One after drawing 2-2 with Hull City, making it back-to-back demotions for The Foxes.

Norwich City put a slight dent in Derby County’s play-off chances with a 2-1 win at Carrow Road as Mohamed Toure was on the scoresheets despite missing a penalty.

Josh Windass’ only goal gave Wrexham a 1-0 win against Oxford United and pushed Phil Parkinson’s team into sixth place.

On Wednesday night, Morgan Whittaker scored the only goal of the match in Middlesbrough’s 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday, boosting their chances of an automatic spot.

Yuki Ohashi bagged a brace for Blackburn Rovers in their 3-1 away victory over Sheffield United to secure their survival in the Championship.

Birmingham City held on to push up the top half of the table after beating Preston North End 2-1.

Ipswich Town maintained their position in second place with a 2-1 win against Charlton Athletic, making the away side even more eager for promotion.

On Friday night, Macaulay Langstaff rescued a point for Millwall in the 91st minute, striking a significant equaliser to draw 1-1 with Leicester City.

On Saturday, Charlton Athletic dented Hull City’s play-off hopes with a 2-1 victory which confirmed Oxford United’s relegation.

Middlesbrough thrashed Watford 5-1 in a dominant game at the Riverside which puts Boro just one point away from the second automatic spot.

Ipswich Town dropped points against West Brom in a 0-0 draw, but The Tractor Boys still have a game-in-hand to keep their spot in second.

Jaydon Banel scored in the 88th minute to give Derby County a 3-2 away win over QPR and enter keep themselves in the play-off race on the final day.

Liam Lindsay’s brace was pivotal for Preston North End’s 3-2 victory against Sheffield United as The Lilywhites were close to being on the receiving end of a comeback.

Birmingham City earned back-to-back home victories with a 2-1 win against Bristol City thanks to two first half goals.

Oxford United dominated in their 4-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday, despite finding out they were officially going down moments before the match kicked off.

Kenny McLean and Zan Vipotnik both scored penalties as Norwich City and Swansea City shared a point in a 1-1 draw.

Adrian Segecic netted himself a hat-trick in Portsmouth’s 3-1 win on their away trip to Stoke City, making it four triumphs in five matches for Pompey.

Finally, on Sunday, Coventry City celebrated as champions after defeating Wrexham 3-1 which will make the play-off battle a worthy watch, heading into the final day.
