When a football fan mentions Tottenham and Chelsea and what they have in common, then most fans will say that both teams are from London and both are in the Premier League.

If you dig deeper, then you can say that both have been Europa League winners. Other things in common are that they have gone for the same players in the past, and players like Timo Werner, Will, and Gallas have played for them.

Glen Hoddle, Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho have managed both clubs, too. Despite all of those facts, this isn’t the similarity I want to highlight. The thing both clubs have in common is that they’re in disarray at this current time.

Granted, North Londoners Tottenham are in a more desperate situation than West Londoners Chelsea, but the rate at which they’re both going through managers is alarming.

Chelsea now have had three managers this season. They started with Enzo Maresca, the man who guided them to a Club World Cup triumph as well as a Europa Conference League title.

Just like Maurico Pochettino before him, the former Leicester manager became disillusioned with the way things were being run and, duly, Maresca departed the West London club by mutual consent.

Across London, they started the season with former Brentford manager Thomas Frank at the helm, which appeared to be a doomed choice from the outset. The former Brondy manager just seemed like he was a lost soul at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Igor Tudor and Roberto De Zerbi have followed since, and since then, Italian De Zerbi the new manager of The Lilly Whites, now themselves in the bottom three. For a club the size of Tottenham, that’s catastrophic.

Ok, Chelsea might not have that part in common, being in relegation contention, but The Blues, who rely on the Champions League in order to ease their debts and make their finances more sustainable, unless the mother of all miracles happens, Chelsea won’t be in the Champions League, which is a massive blow for the club.

What inspired me to write this article was to try to give Tottenahm fans some encouragement, but sadly, there’s not much even I can give. Things look very bleak, even if you have a very talented manager in charge.
