When boss Andoni Iraola announced he was leaving the club at the end of the season, everyone in the football world was shocked, no doubt, but arguably not surprised.
The 43-year-old has been linked with Leeds and Tottenham in the past, as well as Manchester United and Chelsea, too, such is the admiration for the former Athletic Bilbao left-back.
It’s fair to say that The Cherries are going to face a big loss without having someone of Iraola’s calibre in the dugout. For Bournemouth, just like they have approached matters on the pitch, they have reacted swiftly and with no nonsense by announcing the appointment of Marco Rose for next season.
Rose is untested in England but has been linked to top English jobs in the past. The former RB Leipzig manager was shortlisted to be the next Tottenham manager.
Other chairmen are aware that Marco Rose is a talented coach. The work that he did at Borussia Monchengladbach was admirable, considering there were budget restraints, which shows that the former Salzburg is entitled to more credit than what he’s getting.
It also must be stated that this is Bournemouth we’re talking about. These guys don’t miss! Crucially, he will need time, so let’s hope the football judge and jury give him that.
