Italian driver Kimi Antonelli became the second-youngest F1 race winner after he won in Shanghai; only Max Verstappen, who won for the first time aged 18 at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, has taken the chequered flag in F1 at a younger age than Antonelli.

Team mate and early-season pace setter George Russell was second, and former seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton was third. After taking the chequered flag, Kimi Antonelli was emotional and understandably so.

As the F1 season moves over to neighbouring Japan for the Suzuka Grand Prix, the top of the the drivers’ championship sees Russell at the top of the pile with 51 points, with teenager Antonelli four points behind on 47 points, with Ferrari duo Charles Le Clerc and Lewis Hamilton on 34 points and 33 points respectively.

The Japan Grand Prix will be held on 27th March.
