When the average football fan thinks of the Winter Transfer Window, then surely a few things come to mind. One is the iconic Sam Allardyce Meme, when he is in the Sky Sports studio, and another is the Peter Odemwingie transfer that didn’t happen.
Or what about Harry Redknapp talking to journalists from his car window, trrrrific! Terrific indeed, Harold. The legendary manager wasn’t one who liked to miss out on a good deal in the football transfer market.
He was known as a bit of a wheeler and dealer, but don’t say that to Harry; he will blast your head off. With Redknapp now retired, the managers of today’s age are trying to wheel and deal in a bargain. Personally, Marc Guehi is a good case for being one of the bargains of the window.
Either the transfer or that of Tammy Abraham moving to Aston Villa.
Jorgen Strand-Larsen moved to Crystal Palace in a deal that could be worth up to £48 million, and Liverpool made the most expensive signing in the transfer window. The Reds signed Jeremy Jacquet for a fee in the region of £60 million from Rennes.
With Liverpool looking not as strong as they did last term at the back, one would have thought that there would be a deal in place to bring the youngster into the squad after the Winter Window.
Some might be thinking, this is the window that forced world football to slow down in its spending, I wouldn’t count on it.
