What was threatening to turn into a saga has come to a happy resolution for both player and club. Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larson, formerly of Celta Vigo was the subject of a lot of transfer speculation from Premier League rivals Newcastle.

Part of the deal going through was seeing want-away French Jean-Philippe Mateta go to AC Milan. To qualify my statement, it won’t scupper the deal if Mateta stays with the Eagles, but it potentially unbalances things on the FFP side.

At the time of writing, the deal for the Palace striker going to the San Siro is all but off. This is the transfer deadline day window we are talking about, so never say never.

The reasoning is due to the medical report, but sometimes this doesn’t deter clubs. Although the medical report has come back with that outcome, I don’t recall the French striker missing too many games this term due to injury.
