England’s white-ball captain, Harry Brook, has arguably opened a can of worms after admitting that other players were present with him when he got into an altercation with a nightclub bouncer in Wellington.

A statement that was released on Friday evening appears to contradict his original account of events, where the Yorkshire batsman said he was on his own. In a backtrack, Brook has said other players were present, but didn’t want to get them ‘drawn into a situation ‘.

As this is a developing story, more of what is actually accurate will emerge, but after a comprehensive win against Sri Lanka in the first T20 and the T20 World Cup so close, this is far from ideal.
