Hello, good morning sports fans. I hope you’re well, looking after yourselves and are in good health. Sports fans, we need to talk about sports and, in particular, football.
So, for those of you who love the beautiful game, you would be aware that there was a big match being contested between 14-time League champions Arsenal and 20-time League champions Manchester United.
In years gone by, this use to be one of the biggest matches on the calendar, but in recent years gone by, it can be argued that some of the gloss has come off this fixture.
If yesterday’s match was anything to go by, then United vs Arsenal are going back to being matches that have some meaning to them and entertainment/excitement. After two wins in his first two games, caretaker interim boss Michael Carrick has arguably lifted the mood that was floating around The Theatre Of Dreams.
It’s just two wins, but the ex-Man United players, now TV pundits, can’t help themselves. Of course, this is the whole point of what they do (offer an opinion), but why so much negativity behind The Red Devils?
Roy Keane, although he sounded somewhat positive towards his old side on Sunday, is usually the mouthpiece for negativity about the club. Neville, to be fair can be more balanced in his views, but even he can go negative.
Do you remember when he suggested going three at the back? My grievance is this: there’s too much Man United influence in the media, and people like Keane is still bitter in the way he left Old Trafford.
When Jamie Carragher analyses Man United, there’s an element of impartiality, but with the Man United pundits, which now expands to podcasters Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, there’s a toxicity in their analyses.
Is this even an issue, or am I making a mountain out of a molehill? I just want level-headed analyses, not too dramatic, either way.
