Crystal Palace have been rocked by the double blow that captain Marc Guehi is nearing a move to Manchester City and boss Oliver Glasner will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
The Citizens who in the last January window made some defensive reinforcements, have been forced into some more with the news that Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias have been injured.
City haven’t been the same since both players were injured, and with The Blues an eye-opening six points behind rivals Arsenal in the Premier League title race, manager Pep Guardiola has decided to act.
Guehi, who came through the ranks of Chelsea, was heavily linked with Liverpool ovr the summer and was very close to moving to Anfield over the summer, only for the deal to fall through in the last moments before the transfer deadline.
As for the news regarding Oliver Glasner, this will no doubt be a huge blow for The Eagles. The Austrian, who won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt, came to Selhurst Park and, against all odds, helped the South London side to win last season’s FA Cup.
Glasner advised that he had notified the club a few months before, but for the regular football fan like you and me, it does come as a shock. An early contender for the role, I am going to suggest Coventry manager Frank Lampard.
