A difficult week for Spanish giants, which saw them part company with legendary player Xabi Alonso as manager, saw them lose to Albacete 3-2 in the Copa Del Rey round of 16. If new manager Alvaro Arbeloa wasn’t sure of the scale of the task needed to be done at the Santiago Bernabeu, then he most certainly does now.
Maybe one can say that Los Blancos did field a weakened side, but with Vinicous Junior, Fede Valverde and Dean Huijsen starting last night to name some first-team regulars, then it’s fair to say, Real don’t have many excuses for such a poor result.
In the capital, it looks like things will get worse before they get better. A game against La Liga strugglers Levante is what the Real Madrid faithful will be hoping is something better.
