In the 90’s for those who can relate, boy bands used to be the rage. A group of boys in a band that would sing pop songs, for those of you who might not be sure of what I am referring to.

Arsenal once upon a time and Liverpool were the football equivalent of this, but after having some hit singles (to keep the analogy going), have decided to keep with the same genre of music and are quite good at what they do.

Manchester United, who are never short of a crisis and are arguably in one currently, are of course trying to find themselves again. Music wise, this is almost like Machine Gun kelly going toe to toe with Eminem and falling flat-faced.

For those of you who don’t know, MGK started as a rapper, got into a war of words through music with Mr Mathers and then became a country-singer .. yee ha! Man United are loose something like this, because they need to change 180, because their current version isn’t selling any records, nor is it closer to getting to the top of the charts.

Michael Carrick is the new front-man, but needs to ensure he falls in the right-side of the music producers. There a fussy bunch at United. Just like with a boy-band, a football team is about an identity.

United, arguably in the 90’s played a version of heavy-metal football, but now are a band who are putting random instruments together, hoping some chords can come together.

Maybe a bit too simplistic, but why don’t they go to that kind of music, a way that served them so well? Well they did under Ruben, but then he rubbed up the powers that be the wrong way.

Here’s to hoping Michael Carrick can fair better. Just give the guy time and see what happens.
