Rangers manager Russell Martin is a man who is desperately hanging on to his job after seeing his side lose 2-0 to League leaders Hearts. A brace from Laurence Shankland, who had been linked with a switch to Ibrox a few seasons ago, the man with the goals.
Famed for his attacking football and high-pressing, Rangers’ owners thought they were getting their answer to Brendan Rodgers, who, of course, managed Glasgow rivals Celtic.
In reality, it’s been anything but, as the Rangers have been very disappointing. Four consecutive League draws and now this defeat mean the former Southampton man has an unwanted record of being on such a losing streak.
Having a fallout with one of your better players, Nicolas Raskin, never helps, but apparently that issue has been resolved. The one saving grace is that Martin might have time on his side as the season is only five games in, but with Steven Gerrard looking for work, the new American owners might be tempted.
