German giants Bayer Leverkusen have wasted little time in replacing former Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag with the appointment of former Denmark national team manager Kasper Hjulm.

The former Nordsjælland boss helped the club win their maiden Danish Super Liga title in 2012, but it was his work with his country (helping Denmark get to the semi-final of Euro 2020/21) that earned plaudits from the rest of Europe.

Aston Villa were said to be interested in hiring the 53-year-old in the past, but for whatever reason, the move didn’t materialise. It’s Leverkusen who have put their money where their mouth is and are giving this talented manager a chance on the big stage.

It’s not going to be easy, not by any stretch, Bayer Leverkusen’s best players have left the club during the summer, and the club have not brought in enough reinforcements.
