Former Aston Villa winger Jack Grealish has joined Everton on loan. Grealish, 29, leaves Manchester City (temporarily at least) to join The Toffees until the end of the season. 

Many in the football community are seeing this as a step back; Jack Grealish is on the decline, but depending on how he applies himself, it doesn’t need to be this way. 

City manager Pep Guardiola is famed for having his wingers play more methodically. The fact that the 29-year-old England captain doesn’t have this to contend with this year means he could use it to his advantage. 

In a team like Everton, they will be more direct, which could play into a player like Jack Grealish’s hands. Although the former Villa captain admirably worked in the system that was asked of him, I couldn’t help but think this lion has been tamed. 

In Euro 2020, he was a key player for England, with good reason too. Grealish was allowed to hurt the opposition with his explosiveness. In David Moyes, Jack Grealish will be in good hands, which I do not doubt.
