Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, 32, has agreed to return to the Premier League with Sunderland. The former Arsenal player is expected to sign a three-year deal at The Stadium of Light. 

Xhaka, earlier in the summer, was heavily linked with six-time Champions League winners AC Milan, but the move didn’t materialise. Instead, after a successful two-year stay at the Bayer Arena, Granit Xhaka is leaving Germany for the North East of England, where he will become The Black Cats’ eighth summer signing. 

The signing of the 32-year-old Xhaka sees Sunderland’s transfer window spending go to more than £114 million. If anyone had any doubts about it before, the North East club aren’t here just to make up the numbers.
