Manchester City are set to re-sign James Trafford, two seasons after letting the 22-year-old leave to join Burnley.
The Englishman was the subject of a £27 million bid from Newcastle. Due to the nature of the deal, as The Cityzens have matched what The Magpies were willing to pay, it meant they had a say of the direction of where the transfer was going.
Trafford, who has had a spell on loan with Bolton, was in goal for England Under-21’s European winning Campaign, where he impressed immensely.
Still, it appears somewhat surprising that Pep has opted to bring back the man he sold without putting him in the first team.
Like Ederson, Trafford is good with his feet and is a superb shot-stopper. James Trafford will provide competition for the Brazilian.
From the outside looking in, one can surely say that the former Burnley stopper wouldn’t have signed for City if he hadn’t been given some assurance about a starting place.
James Trafford is Manchester City’s sixth summer signing.
