This summer has seen several clubs being ripped of first-team talent. Bayer Leverkusen, through Jerome Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, who both joined Liverpool, respectively, to the double Bournemouth departure of Dean Huisen and Milos Kerkez, who went to Real Madrid and Arne Slot’s Liverpool, respectively. 

This kind of transfer behaviour isn’t an alien concept. The loss of their top talent often plagues teams like Monaco, Porto, Ajax, and Benfica. 

But the way these teams are modelled and function, they factor in such losses and replace said player quickly and adequately. PS, German giants are another example of my point. One team that proves my point is East Midland side Nottingham Forest.
 
Forest, who have won the UEFA Champions League in their history, finished seventh last term and qualified for the Conference League. The Pinetrees will have to do that without Anthony Elanga and Morgan Gibbs-White, two players who were key to Forest’s creativity.

With the examples of the other clubs, they have taken some steps to fill the voids left by the departed players, so Nottingham Forest will have their work cut out for them. 

Nothing would be more soul-destroying for fans to see such an outstanding season one season, only for the following season to turn into a relegation dogfight.
