If Tottenham did this after they inexplicably sacked Ange Postecoglou, they deserve everything they get: the decline and the struggles of selling their star player. 

Who am I referring to, of course? Son Heung-Min, their talismanic captain and South Korea captain. The veteran attacker has been a mainstay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and is one of the last survivors of the Mauricio Pochettino reign. 

The former Leverkusen player, who has been with Spurs since 2015, is the last star player in their ranks in a creative sense. With the greatest respect to the current players for The Lily Whites, every same player just has 12 months left on his current deal. 

Chairman Daniel Levy has come out and said that Ange got sacked because Tottenham wants to win the Premier League, so of course, you hire a Brentford manager who has never taken his side into the Champions League. 

Son is a superstar. Although he has been hit with more injuries recently, he is a player who makes something out of nothing. Team cohesion is valuable, but every team in world football has one superstar. 
Barcelona, Real, Bayern, and so on all have that one X-factor player. So Mr Levy, if you harbour genuine hopes of winning the League title, you can’t sell Son Heun-Min. 

If you do decide to cash in, then, sir, you are seriously insulting the intelligence of your fan base.
