Unlike Lewis Hamilton and the great Michael Schumacher, defending four-time champion Max Verstappen isn’t getting things all his way this year.
The Dutchman, who has been largely unopposed for the past four seasons, has an almighty fight on his hands this year if he wants to be world champion again.
Oscar Piastri and Llando Norris, who both drive for McLaren, have really taken the fight to the 27-year-old. If that wasn’t enough of a challenge, just for good measure, British driver George Russell, in his Mercedes, is just 26 points behind him in the drivers’ championship.
The former Torro Rosso man Verstappen always seemed destined for greatness when he became the youngest man to start an F1 race. Since joining Red Bull, Max Verstappen has been able to marry his fiery nature with his competitive streak.
Next up on the F1 calendar is the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend. Although it’s still early in the season, Max Verstappen will be the first one to say he needs to get some significant points this racing week.
The Canadian Grand Prix will be at Gilles Villeneuve track, Montreal, from 13th – 15th June.
