After completing the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee in the region of £30 million, The Reds have wasted little time addressing other areas of the pitch they want to address.

On the opposite side of their defence, they expect to complete the signing of Milos Kerkez from Premier League rivals Bournemouth for a fee in the region of £45 million.

The Hungarian Kerkez was outstanding last term and will come to Anfield looking to compete with Scotland captain Andy Robertson for the starting left-back berth.

Robertson, 31, has been ever present on Liverpool’s left-hand side of the defence, but I am sure he would be the first one to admit that last season was a bit challenging for him.

Maybe this is the first sign of player decline. Something similar happened to club captain Virgil Van Dijk, but the club captain has roared back into top form. The Liverpool hierarchy will be hoping for the same from Robertson.

As well as reinforcements in defence, the Premier League champions have all but completed the signing of Florian Wirtz also from Bayer Leverkusen for the region of £107 million.

Last season they were a country mile ahead of everyone else in the Premier League and now rather ominously, Liverpool are now getting even stronger.
