You read that right. After 18 long hard years, Royal Challenge Bangalore (RCB), are IPL winners 2025 after they defeated the Punjab Kings by just six runs. This title win is their first title win at the expense of Sheryas Iyer’s side. 

The Kings, too, came into this final, hoping to end their title drought in the IPL. Unfortunately, it was not to be, as they fell just six runs short. Batting first, the RCB posted 190-7. On paper, that did not seem like a terrible score. 

Would it be enough? Well, that could only be judged when Punjab came out to bat. For The Challengers, only former skipper Virat Kohli (43) got a meaningful score (43). 

There were several starts. Skipper Rajat Patidar (26) and Liam Livingston (25) are examples of that. In The Punjab Kings’ reply, Shashank Singh (61) and Josh Inglis were the two players to have made a score of note, but sadly for Punjab, no one else could carry their bat long enough. 

For Virat Kohli, there was sheer joy, and for Sheryas Iyer, sheer disappointment. This has been some years or two for Virat King Kohli. In 2024, he won his first World T20 title with his native India, and now he has won his first IPL crown.
