Manchester City have agreed a €55 million (£46.3 million) deal with AC Milan for their midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. The 26-year-old Dutchman will sign a five-year contract at The Etihad Stadium and is manager Pep Guardiola’s first signing of a busy summer. 

Reijnders can play across midfield in a number of positions. Potentially, it’s that same versatility that attracted Guardiola to the former AZ Alkmaar man. The signing of the 26-year-old Reijnders might not be a like-for-like replacement for the outgoing Kevin De Bruyne, but Tijjani Reijnders’ arrival can add a new dimension to Man City’s midfield. 

It’s also been confirmed that Matteo Kovacic will be ruled out for the Club World Cup tournament, so it’s of utmost importance to complete the signing as soon as possible.
