Ebrechi Eze continued his fine goal scoring season with the only goal in the FA Cup final, which helped sink Pep’s Manchester City 1-0. The Cityzens, who had to surrender their crown to Liverpool a few weeks ago, were expected to win the FA Cup to prevent going the season trophy-less.
The Eagles on the day were the better side and true to his word, manager Oliver Glasner said he would be able to overcome The Blues if they were set up in a familiar way to the way they were in the league.
It’s massive credit to the South London side. So reliant they were on talisman Wilried Zaha, but the Ivorian is a legend of the past these days. In his place Michael Olise shone before his big-money move to Bayern.
England youngster Eze formerly of QPR, has grown and matured and become Palace’s new talisman. As for Man City this is a chastening defeat and will see them end the season trophy-less.
It could be argued the Club World Cup could be a trophy, but admittedly that’s clutching on to straws.
