The Sports Buff ⚽️ ⚾️ 🏈

Good afternoon. My name is Ayyaz Malik, aka The Sports Buff. I hope you’re well, looking after yourself, and in good health. As you know, dear reader, I have been a sports writer for 11 years (WordPress sent me an email telling me so).

It’s a fraction more, but that’s not too important. This article isn’t about sports; it’s a tribute article. One thing you good souls might not know is that I have written over 1,000 articles on my website.

You might think, no one likes a show-off, my beloveds. This isn’t why I feel the need to mention this. I mention this because, in my 11-year journey with ayyazmalik.com and my 1,000-article journey here, I have used one laptop, a 2013 MacBook.

I remember when I first got it from the Apple store, not knowing what to expect or how to feel. But if I knew what I knew now, I need not have worried.

My laptop and I were almost like a couple. We bickered and argued, not sure which couple didn’t. To Apple’s credit, she stayed quiet. She roared on occasions, but that was because she needed her fan to work to cool down. She was getting old and needed a laptop version of an inhaler or some form of oxygen.

When I started writing my book, I used her to get the ball rolling. When I wrote on other websites and had writing jobs, I used her. Some will say it’s just a laptop, but to me, it was my best friend.

Don’t fall in love, they say. Oops, it’s too late. It was too late when I opened you up the first time, and my eyes and I got lost in the screen glow. It was love at first light (not sorry for the pun).

I wish we could have been on our 12th anniversary, but the screen cracked on me, and my MacBook was no more. Some will say you could have used a monitor, but in pet terms, MacBook, you have suffered a lot in your 11 years. I am putting you down.

They say crying is for wimps. Yeah, try going through thick and thin for 11 years with someone or something, then for it to just end. Hi, new laptop. I have spent this whole article praising my ex and not giving you flowers, my new love.

May our love cherish and blossom for many years to come. With you by my side and at the forefront of it, I hope to write this book and also establish this blog.

The day is 1st April 2025. There are no April fools, but there is one fool every day who will look and fall madly in love with his new laptop like he did his old one. Old MacBook, you were a hero, a workhorse, and the source of entertainment (I watched the Apprentice Iplayer and some movies, too).

I have celebrated your life to the fullest old MacBook (April 2014-April 2025). So, if anyone wants to know where I have been, this partly answers the question.
