Hello, good morning, sports fans. I hope you’re well, looking after yourselves, and in good health. Sports fans, football fans, we need to talk about football and to be more precise, we need to talk about Manchester United.

The 20-time Premier League champions have fallen from grace since legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson retired 12 seasons ago. Even during his time, it happened, but when players left Old Trafford, they would shine elsewhere after struggling to live at The Theatre Of Dreams.

During his legendary 27-year reign, Sir Alex, once selling a player, usually he sold them at the right time, and the player arguably didn’t perform well at their new club as they did when with United.

Players like Juan Sebastian Veron are an example of a player not doing well after leaving United. Nicky Butt and Phil Neville are examples of other players who, well, in great respect, didn’t have terrible careers once leaving, but never to the heights of when they were with The Red Devils.

However, there are some players who shatter such myths. David Beckham with Real Madrid and Diego Forlan with Villareal, for example, are some names; Jaap Stam is another. The great man, in his book, admitted he was wrong to sell Jaap Stam.

So, with that in mind, it’s a bit harsh to say that it’s purely down to a toxic environment why Anthony and Scott Mctominay are suddenly playing at an advanced level compared to what they did whilst at Old Trafford. Jesse Lingard and Jadon Sancho are a case for life isn’t always rosier.

Although both men did show initial promise, reality hit quite quickly thereafter. Sancho is on the peripheral at Chelsea, and Lingard is in obscurity in South Korea. David DeGea is another player who can tip the argument oppositely.

The way that ex-Man United players shine and perform better when they’re not playing for United. De Gea, a Manchester United legend, has been brilliant since joining Fiorentina in Serie A.

I respect that there is a for and an against in this discussion, but which side are you on? Is there anyone I have missed who could help prove the argument either way?
