Defending champions Real Madrid sealed a memorable 3-2 win against former Champions League winners Manchester City, courtesy of a late Jude Bellingham strike.
City, who have made a much publicised transfer spending spree in the January transfer window, to their credit took the game to their Spanish opponents. But as the 14-time Champions League winners always seem to do, is find a way.
It’s what they did this evening in East Manchester. Before the game much was made of their attacking quartet of Bellingham, Vinicius, Mbappe and Rodrygo. Englishman Bellingham and French captain Mbappe would get their names on the score sheet scoring crucial goals in the first let, (the opener and the winner).
Just for good measure, Vini Junior got in on the act with an assist , which only would go on to further prove how dangerous this Real Madrid quarter really is.
This tie is far from over as their is still a lot to play for, but Pep and his Manchester City side just might rue the fact that Los Blancos got back into the game when they were in the ascendancy.
The football world sympathises with you City. Last season Borussia Dortmund felt the same thing.
