After years of speculation, France manager Didier Deschamps has ended speculation regarding his future as national team manager by confirming he will leave his post as manager of 2018 World Champions France after USA 2026.

The former Monaco and Juventus coach has enjoyed relative success in the role. Not only did the former midfielder Les Bleus win the World Cup, but he also helped them win the Nations League.

Despite coming close in 201, where they reached the final, France, under Descamps’ tenure, couldn’t win the Euros. The French have been the nation with the best squad in tournaments for the past 10 years, so it can be argued there’s been underachievement from Didier Deschamps’ tenure.

The French FA will be looking at names for the role, but it’s hard to look past Zinedine Zidane.
