Centuries from Brandon King (102) and Keacy Carty (128 not out) emphatically helped West Indies with the decider between them and England by eight wickets. Winning the toss, home captain Shai hoped to put the tourists into bat.

The decision was a good one, as England crumbled to 24-4. However, some resistance from Sam Curran (40), Dan Mousley (57), Craig Overton (32), and a late cameo from Jofra Archer (38 from 17 balls) helped the tourists get to 263-8.

Of course, Phil Salt must also be mentioned, who played very unselfishly (74 off 108 balls). Never have I known the Lancashire batsmen to have such a low strike rate.

Would that be enough? Well, it appeared a competitive total if you base it on how hard England was finding it to score. But West Indies made light work of the total, winning with seven overs remaining. Evin Lewis (19) and King (102) were the only wickets to fall.

It was a disappointing end to England’s ODI series, but they will have a chance to avenge this defeat when the two sides play the first of T20I’s on 9th November.
