A new-look England side got their tour of the West Indies off to the worst possible start after they were beaten by eight wickets using the DLS method. Under the new captaincy of Liam Livingstone, the tourists lost the toss and were asked to bat.

Shai Hope, Livingstone’s opposite number, clearly saw that he made the right choice. Formerly famed for their Gun-Ho approach, England’s ‘gun’ lacked ammo.Bar Sam Curran (37) and skipper Livingstone (48), nobody else made any score of note.

In reply, the Windies made light work of their target. Brandon King (30), Evin Lewis (94), Kacy Carty (19) and captain Shai Hope (six not out) were the four batsmen for the home side to get a run-out. No pun intended.

England will look to avenge this defeat tomorrow.
