The Former Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich manager has been successful at club level, winning the Champions League with Premier League side Chelsea and titles with PSG and Dortmund.

What’s not going away in the discussion about whether Tuchel is a good manager who will take England forward? This issue is being discussed because the German has disagreements with his peers in whichever job he has been in.

This is a valid point to raise, but what I will say on top of that is that at Bayern, for example, his allies, Oliver Khan and Hassan Salihamidzic, left the club, and then that’s where the issue arose at the Allianz Arena.

Will Tuchel suffer a similar fate while with England? It seems that it’s only a matter of time before the 51-year-old has the same experience. But if the former Bayern manager wins a trophy, one that England so badly craves, then who cares if he blows a few doors down?

No English manager has won the Premier League, and if my knowledge serves me correctly, no manager has won the Champions League either. And just for good measure, no English manager has won the European Championships.

But yes, he must be English, right?

If Thomas Tuchel achieves glory with England, I am sure not many will be too upset. Football is about winning, right?
