The tennis world is in a sombre mood as it tries to come to terms with the news that 13-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal will retire in November. Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam winner, will represent his native Spain in the Davis Cup next month.

Rafa. has barely played over the last two seasons and previously suggested he would retire at the end of 2024. Still, in a video message released on Thursday, the Spanish legend said, “I am here to let you know I am retiring from professional tennis”.

Congrats to Rafael Nadal on a wonderful career. With Andy Murray and Rodger Federer retiring, the once-Fab Four is now the Fab One.
