Despite the best efforts of Salman Agha (63) and Aamer Jamal (55 not out), Pakistan slid to their 11th defeat in a row in test matches after losing to England by an innings and 47 runs. It could have been all so different for the men in green, who scored 556 all out in their first innings.

But England, as they do time and time again, and sadly Pakistan do time and time again, do what they do best in recent times. To their credit, the Three Lions battled back and scored a mammoth 823-7, courtesy of Joe Root (262) and Harry Brook (317).

From chasing the game, Ollie Pope’s men were dictating the tempo. The 823 runs they scored in just 150 overs, which means they were pretty close to scoring at six runs an over.

This superb rate of scoring put pressure back on Pakistan’s attack but also helped them get ahead of the game, with a lot of the game still to go.
The home side wilted severely, which has been customary for them as of late.

To make matters worse, Shaan Masood’s men were even further up against it after Abdullah Shafique was out the first ball in the home side’s reply.

It didn’t improve for the home side as they slid to 82-6. A 109-run seven-wicket stand stalled England, but not for too long, as Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah fell soon after to spark wild England celebrations.
