Hello and good evening, sports fans. I hope you’re well and in good health. Former Manchester United defender and Aston Villa loanee Axel Tuanzebe will be out of action for up to a month after injuring his hand while washing up.
Axel, we should have believed you when you said you didn’t fancy using the washing liquid. When you return from injury, and when you can resume your washing-up career, Axel Tuanzebe, get those marigolds on, and maybe use Fairy, too.
What do they say in the advert? Mild and clean Fairy Liquid!
This is a very unusual way to get injured, but for sports fans, Tuanzebe isn’t the only football player to have suffered a freak injury. Santiago Canizares of Valencia missed Japan and South Korea after dropping a bottle of aftershave on his foot.
O Santi, you should have grown a Beard! I’d like to know if he switched to the good old Lynx Africa in the after-match of aftershave gate. Or how about when Rio Ferdinand injured his right tendon after putting his foot on the coffee table and then proceeding to gaming for a few hours.
That’s dedication to the FIFA cause. I’m not sure I would be able to do that, even though I am a couch potato at the best of times. Last but not least, a fourth example of a player sustaining a freak injury is Bolton striker Victor Adeboyejo, who suffered an injury ‘from a pretty hefty sneeze’.
After having a rib issue in football combat against League rivals Charlton, a sneeze caused discomfort to the 26-year-old’s back and already sore rib cage.
