Arsenal have agreed a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino for an initial £28.4 PLUS £4.2 million in add-ons. Merino, who was a part of the Spain Euro 2024 winning team, played in all seven games of the tournament.
The signing of the former Newcastle man is seen as enabling Declan Rice to have the licence to be able to move further up the pitch and become more of a box-to-box kind of player.
As good of a player, as Merino is, the question most fans will be asking is can he score 20 goals a season, because Arsenal are still crying out for a player who can. Mikel Merino is the third summer signing after the arrivals of David Raya from Brentford and Ricardo Calafiori
