Premier League side Everton continue their busy transfer window, with their fifth transfer of the window, after Irish man Jake O’Brien signed for the club on a four-year deal for £16.4 million.
This signing will add to The Toffee’s array of centre-backs including skipper James Tarkowski, Jared Branthwaite and Mason Holgate. When the news emerged of O’Brien joining the club, we naturally thought the Republic of Ireland international was his replacement in waiting.
It’s hard to say if this is the case, but the 23-year-old is highly rated and could make the transition without a problem. The other way this could be considered is O’Brien’s signing to replace the departed Ben Godfrey.
Godfrey left Goodison Park to join Europa League winners Atalanta.
