French Side Marseille have signed Mason Greenwood from Manchester United for a fee believed to be £26.6 million on a five-year deal. Bradford-born Greenwood was on loan at Getafe last season, where his performances in Spain led to a whole of host clubs wanting to sign the United youngster.
Lazio and Barcelona were also credited with an interest in Greenwood. Serie A side Lazio thought they could seal the signing under their French counterparts’ noses, but the deal had already been done.
The departure of Greenwood has allowed some funds to be available, which will go into the new signing of Lille defender Lenny Yoro. Yoro, who at 18 has been dubbed the Kylian Mbappe of defence, signs for United who beat Liverpool and Real Madrid to his signature.
The 18-year-old Yoro has signed for £52 million on a five-year deal.
