In-form Spain continues their march to the Euro 2024 trophy with a thrilling 2-1 win over 2018 World Champions France. This tournament on the whole has been a very poor one on the eye, but in contrast, the first 30 minutes were a superb spectacle.

After that let-off, Spain grew into the game and drew level through teenage sensation Yamine Yamal. The Barca youngster curled a superb effort into Mike Maignan’s goal despite the French goalkeeper’s best efforts to keep it out.

With their tails up, La Roja grabbed a second through Dani Olmo whose silky touches in the penalty area allowed him to get his shot off, which hit Jules Kounde on the way in.

After a lively first half, there would always be the chance that the second half would be a bit more of a tighter game, which in part was why there were no more goals.
