India beat defending champions England by 68-runs in the second semi-final to book their place in Saturday’s final. Winning the toss, defending champions England put Rohit Sharma’s India in to bat.
That decision appeared to be a good one as Virat Kohli (nine) departed early, the usually destructive Rishabh Pant (four) quickly followed. At 40-2, India were in a spot of bother and were indebted to Mumbai India duo Suryakumar Yadav (47 off 36 balls) and captain Sharma (57 off 39 balls.
Hardik Pandya (23 off 13) and Ravi Jadeja (17 off 9 not out) helped the 2007 T20 World Champions to a potential daunting score at 171-7. That’s how it would end up as Jos Buttler’s England were thoroughly out played.
Captain Buttler (23 off 15 balls), Jofra Archer (21 off 15 balls) and Harry Brook (25 off 19) were the only men who scored any runs of note.
Englands defence is over and India are through where they will face unbeaten South Africa.
