After weeks of speculation, the Ipswich Town manager has ended immediate speculation about his future by signing a new four-year contract. London-born McKenna has seen his stock rise sky-high after leading The Tractor Boys to back-to-back promotions and into the Premier League.
The 38-year-old’s achievements hadn’t gone unnoticed and this led Brighton, Chelsea and former club Manchester United to try to acquire his services. This led Ipswich’s owners to fly in from the USA and attempt to thrash out a new deal for their highly-rated boss.
To the delight of the East Anglian club, they got their man to agree on a new deal and for now, that means Kieran McKenna is going nowhere.
Some quarters of the football community feel this deal has been signed as he had nowhere else to go, in the world of football it feels like a manager always has a place to go to, especially as talented as Kieran McKenna.
