Leonardo Bonucci has retired from football aged 37. The former Juventus and AC Milan finished his career at Turkish side, who were involved in one of the most epic title tussles, I have ever seen.
Never one for having blistering pace, Bonucci was a conventional Italian centre-back. An excellent reader of the game and someone who would be in the right position at the right time.
It was the 37-year-old who famously broke England hearts in the Euro 2020/21 final by scoring the equaliser that would help The Azzuri win the Euro’s which would be their first since 1968.
At club level too there was many trophies won, including the Scudetto with Juventus. England will be glad to see the back of him, but in the football world he will be missed.
